"Tea Ceremony Experience" in the hotel

Following the success of last year, we are pleased to announce that we will be hosting our authentic tea ceremony experience again this year.

A professor of the Urasenke will give a lecture on the history and etiquette of tea ceremony, followed by a matcha tasting and making experience. The lecture is beginner-friendly; English is available for international guests.

We invite you to take this opportunity to experience the beauty of Japan’s “Chanoyu” (tea ceremony) culture.

Date: April 17 (Fri), May 15 (Fri), June 19 (Fri), July 27 (Mon), September 18 (Fri)
Time: 1st lecture: from 4:00p.m. / 2nd lecture: from 5:00p.m. (Approximately 45 minutes per lesson)
Venue: Intergate Lounge (1F), Hotel Intergate Kyoto Shijo Shinmachi
Fee (tax included): Overnight Guests ¥2,000 / Visitors ¥2,500
Capacity: 10 participants per lesson

 3. Matcha making experience
A professor of the Urasenke will provide a lecture on the history of tea ceremony and Urasenke etiquette. To accompany the matcha, we have prepared omogashi (main sweets) and higashi (dry sweets) from Tawaraya Yoshitomi, a historic Kyoto confectioner founded in 1755.
