Japanese candle shade painting workshop

Japanese candles are lit by repeatedly absorbing and burning vegetable wax and air. This is why the flame naturally flickers. The flame of Japanese candles makes the pictures painted on the shade “grow” larger or smaller as it flickers. Cup-shaped Japanese candles made of vegetable-based raw materials also have flickering flames similar to those of stick candles.
Please enjoy the fantastic and soothing world of Kyoto’s lights created by the flickering flames, together with Japanese candles and candlesticks made from Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery, which are traditional industries designated by Kyoto City.
