We are delighted to host “A 3-Day Festive Craft Workshop: Brightening Your Christmas & New Year.” This event offers you the chance to create your own items to brighten the festive season.

On the first day, Wednesday, December 10th, you can create original ornaments—a “Craft Band Mini-Tree” or “New Year’s Decoration”—using eco-friendly craft bands made from recycled paper. On the second and third days, Thursday, December 11th, and Friday, December 12th, we will offer workshops for making a “New Year’s Wreath” or a “Daruma Flower Arrangement” using beautiful artificial flowers.

We offer activities perfect for everyone, from flower arrangements that craft beginners can easily enjoy, to the rewarding experience of weaving craft bands, where you can watch your creation take shape with every loop.

Workshop: Craft Band Mini-Tree & New Year’s Decoration

Using “craft bands” made from recycled paper, you can create your own palm-sized mini-tree or a traditional New Year’s decoration. Take home your original ornament to beautifully adorn your home for the festive season.

What is “Craft Band”?

“Craft Band” (also known as paper band) is a crafting material said to have originated in Japan. It is made from twisted paper cords that are flattened and glued together into strips. Originally used as industrial material for tying rice bags, it has evolved into a handicraft material. The bands are eco-friendly, made from recycled materials such as milk cartons. For this workshop, we use high-quality, 100% domestic recycled paper bands. Despite being paper, they are remarkably durable and versatile, allowing for a wide variety of weaving techniques.

Certified Instructor of Craft Band Ecology Association

Ms. Miyazaki creates and exhibits a variety of items using craft bands, including bags, accessories, and ornaments. She continues to share her passion for this eco-friendly hobby, teaching craft band techniques at handicraft classes and other facilities to introduce its wonders to a wider audience.

Workshop: New Year’s Wreath & Daruma Flower Arrangement

Enjoy creating a beautiful flower arrangement using colorful artificial flowers in a charming, rounded Daruma (Japanese traditional wishing doll) vase, or design a festive New Year’s wreath using soft wires. This workshop is designed to be easily enjoyed by everyone, including children and beginners.

Instructor: Ms. Machi Kono from “lapine Flower School”

Ms. Kono operates flower classes in Yokohama and holds workshops at various venues, including shopping malls and local festivals. She guides a wide range of participants, from children to adults, in creating beautiful and meticulously crafted floral works.
