On the same day, from 3:00PM to 6:00PM, we will also host three types of washi paper workshops that are open to everyone, including visitors. Participants can enjoy crafting their own “Mini Washi Akari,” uchiwa (Japanese paper fans), or furin (wind chimes).

In Cooperation with Tsumugu Wagamiya (Representative: Nao Iwasaka)
Website: https://tsumugu-wagamiya.com/ (Japanese website)

Tsumugu Wagamiya hosts workshops where everyone can easily experience and connect with the charm of Japanese washi paper. Utilizing a professional background in education, such as working as a cram school instructor and corporate trainer, the representative has spent the past 17 years as a dedicated educator sharing the beauty of washi and the joy of handcrafting.
Our mission is to “weave” meaningful connections—between people and washi, parents and children, and individuals and society. Washi is a gentle yet enduring material, born from the layering of Japan’s natural elements and human craftsmanship. Through experiencing this charm, she hopes to offer an opportunity for people to reflect on their daily lives and inner selves. She truly looks forward to sharing a wonderful time with you—to “create, touch, and connect.”

■Cool Earth Day

This day was established following the G8 Toyako Summit held on July 7, the day of the Tanabata (Star) Festival, in 2008. It serves as an annual opportunity to reflect on our progress toward a low-carbon society, while encouraging households and workplaces to turn off their lights to reduce power consumption and raise awareness about global warming.
